Boston, Massachusetts
One of the premier concert halls in the world and a National Historic Landmark, maintaining Boston Symphony Hall’s legendary acoustics while modernizing the space for the 21st century challenged the entire design team. Preserving this historic hall with its traditional shoebox shape required intricate and extensive planning and incorporated replacing the stage floor, restoring the clerestory windows, expanding the lobby, and significant renovating to the back of house.
