Cambridge, Massachusetts
This combination historic preservation and addition expands upon a Cambridge landmark – maintaining an allegiance to the original stone building and striking boldly forward, introducing a stunningly transparent double-curtainwall system to the façade facing the park on the southwest approach. Over a subterranean parking garage, the newly conjoined wings of the library focus on surrounding patrons with books, harkening the educational excellence evident through Cambridge’s long history.
