SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTANT

LeMessurier is seeking a Sustainability Consultant to support our growing sustainability practice.

The Sustainability Consultant role will be focused on:

1. Working with clients and design teams in a project manager’s role to communicate, innovate, develop, implement, and document project-specific design strategies to increase sustainability and reduce embodied carbon. An understanding of relevant green rating schemes, state and municipal codes, and Life Cycle Assessment strategies and methods is required. Responsibilities will include attendance at client meetings, reporting, site visits, and day-to-day management and tracking of sustainability-focused assessments.
2. Supporting Marketing and Business Development pursuits by providing sustainability-related expertise and materials for use in client or market pursuits. Responsibilities will include coordinating proposal materials, articles, or white papers, and developing or delivering presentations for professional, industry, or client-focused audiences.
3. Advancing our educational and research efforts to help scale our sustainability practice. Responsibilities will include work toward developing firm-wide strategies and initiatives and mentoring the next generation of sustainability leaders.
A strong candidate will understand structural engineering concepts as they relate to structural materials, systems, and embodied carbon. Technical experience as required to perform structural engineering related to embodied carbon assessments is preferred but not required. This role is one with access across all levels of the firm, from senior leadership to interns and co-op students. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience, expertise, and ability in the following areas:

• Project management experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Delivering conceptual design advice and defining project-based sustainability goals and objectives
• Low Embodied Carbon design
• Rating system applications
• Sustainable specification writing and maintenance
• Parametric modeling and optimization analysis

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree in a similar field is preferred.
• Superior organizational and communication skills will be needed to excel in this position.
• 7 Or more years of relevant work experience, including project management experience.
• Understanding of and capacity to stay current on state and local codes and laws impacting sustainability in the built environment.
• Familiarity with sustainability rating systems.
• Familiarity with embodied carbon assessment software(s).
• Familiarity with structural drawings and specifications is desirable but not required
• Being a creative, motivated, organized, and technically minded individual who can work both independently and across a large project team is ideal.

SENIOR STRUCTURAL PROJECT MANAGER - Boston

Description
Design, calculate, model, draw and prepare documents for reports, studies, contract drawings or other deliverables related to myriad project types including retrofits and structural enhancements. Visit project sites prior to design to observe and document pertinent information. Coordinate in-office and subconsultant resources in execution of the above. Engage in the full breadth of projects from proposals through construction, and invoicing. Build, strengthen and maintain client relations centered around successful completion of work.
Qualifications:
Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts with ten-to-fifteen years work experience in the architectural-engineering-construction industry. Exceptional writing, editing and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail. Strong organization skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple demands. Experience with litigation and expert testimony. Functional knowledge of Revit and experience administering projects on teams using Revit; familiarity with analytical software such as Tekla, STAAD, Risa or SAP; wide use of Microsoft Office.

PROJECT STRUCTURAL ENGINEER - Boston

Description:
Design, calculate, model, draw and prepare documents for reports, studies, contract drawings or other deliverables related to myriad project types including retrofits and structural enhancements. Visit project sites prior to design to observe and document pertinent information. Work closely with entire design teams and construction teams to design and administer structural components of the construction phase. Conduct site visits to observe execution of structural design intent, structural evaluation, documentation as well as report writing.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering on a track to obtain a Structural Engineer license at the earliest opportunity, 5 or more years experience is a plus. Exceptional writing, editing and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail. Strong organization skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively while responding to multiple demands. Course-based and introductory experience with Revit; familiarity with analytical software such as Tekla, STAAD, Risa or SAP; wide use of Microsoft Office.

ENCLOSURE CONSULTANT

Description:
Assist in building condition surveys and assessments both in the field and technical reports; architectural design support; resolve complex technical design issues to provide guidance to clients and team; manage communication with in-house and external team members while ensuring the work product meets client's needs; maintain records to document all phases of project relationship activities; staff duties as needed on a project-by-project basis.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in architectural design and/or engineering; 5-10 years of progressive design of building enclosure experience; professional licensure (AIA, P.E., S.E., or Registered Roof Consultant) is preferred but not required; valid driver's license with clean record; availability to travel with overnight lodging for short periods; knowledge of historic and modern enclosure systems; proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and building information modeling (BIM, e.g. Revit); exceptional written and verbal communication.

BIM MODELER / CADD DRAFTER - Boston

Description:
Join our firm and work with our team of engineers and modelers and drafters to convert project building information from architects and engineers into accurate structural models and associated contract drawings. Manage the 3D model, draw sections & details, and maintain models and drawings of the highest quality.
Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software and building information modeling (BIM, e.g. Revit) in a building/construction related industry. Strong ability to communicate with project members both in and outside of the office to solve problems; produce highly detailed, ready to build construction documents, and meet demanding deadlines.
