Federal Reserve Bank of Boston
Boston, Massachusetts

Adjacent to historic South Station, this aluminum clad tower welcomes visitors from the east just as it did upon completion in 1976. The building has many specialty design features for monetary storage, vaults and security, but it may be the portal at the base of the building that is the most distinctive. Transferring over 30 stories of structure, a 3-story deep truss directs all of the loads to the legs at the sides of the building, opening up the landscaped plaza at street level.
