Chicago, Illinois
While fitting multiple science disciplines into one building, it is often challenging to meet the varying needs of each department. The Physics department requires strict vibration control for its laser experiments, the Biology department needs tactical isolation for its vivarium, and the Chemistry department must have specialized chemical storage facilities. Connecting each of these discrete segments is a central atrium through which students and faculty can share research breakthroughs.
