Hired to model and engineer the partial demolition of this historic museum, LeMessurier’s already intricate task took an unexpected turn when two original frescoes were discovered on the museum’s otherwise obscured plaster walls. The renovation required the walls removal, but the frescoes were priceless. LeMessurier and Skanska developed a delicate method of painstaking extraction and storage of the fresco walls which were later delivered and reincorporated to the finished art museum renovation.
