Cambridge, Massachusetts
Offering sweeping views of Boston, the renowned stepped massing of this stylish hotel is a dramatic statement to the Cambridge side of the Charles River while melding with the red brick of nearby universities. Utilizing reinforced concrete as the primary building material, LeMessurier maximized floor-to-ceiling space and designed a glass wall to soak the atrium and gardens with natural light. With a basement below the adjacent Charles River, hydrostatic pressures are resisted by a pressure raft.
