LeMessurier speaks at the Structural Engineers Association of Maine (SEAM)
03.06.17 LeMessurier was recently invited to present to the Structural Engineers Association of Maine (SEAM) regarding the newly completed Avalon North Station tower in Boston’s West End neighborhood. The discussion focused on engineering challenges involved with the design and construction of the new tower atop an existing below-grade parking garage, specifically highlighting how these challenges were overcome with unique structural solutions. The audience participation drove the discussion to include in-depth review of several pertinent topics from the design: load shedding, battered columns; dynamic properties of the structure and the distributed damping solution; the diaphragm transfer levels as well as the review and impact to the existing foundation elements.
