Brown University Wellness Center and Residence Hall Topping Off
05.14.20 Brown University celebrated the topping-off ceremony for its integrated Wellness Center and Residence Hall on Monday, May 11th. The 96,000 GSF building will house Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Brown Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and BWell, the University’s health promotion program. It will also include beds for more than 162 students. The structures are a hybrid of steel framing with typical concrete on metal deck slabs on the lower levels and cross-laminated timber (CLT) slabs at the upper residence levels. The topping-off ceremony was also a hybrid due to current safety practices with only the on-site workers in enhanced PPE attending the ceremony in person and the presentations live-streamed from various locations.
