Washington, DC
This residence is built into a Washington D.C. hillside, which necessitated extensive earth retention structures. The public and private entrances are distinct on the exterior. An interconnected program of public and private spaces maintains the residents’ privacy while offering a welcoming environment to distinguished guests. The large barrel-vaulted Salon offers a distinctive feel with its vertical windows cut into the side of the curved ceiling.
