Description:
Join our firm and work with our team of engineers, modelers, and drafters to convert project building information from architects and engineers into accurate structural models and associated contract drawings. Manage the 3D model, draw sections and details, and maintain models and drawings of the highest quality.
Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software and building information modeling (BIM, e.g., Revit) in a building/construction-related industry. Strong ability to communicate with project members both in and outside of the office to solve problems; produce highly detailed, ready-to-build construction documents, and meet demanding deadlines.
Description:
This position will be for an emerging engineer capable of discrete tasks of varying technical complexity. The engineer will complete these tasks with mentoring and oversight to allow technical skills to develop while working independently and within a project team. The engineer will be tasked with communicating internally with other engineers and externally with clients and other industry professionals.
Qualifications:
Typically, an entry-level engineer with a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s Degree preferred), quality detailed technical writing and skills, responsive and clear communication, strong organizational skills, working knowledge of workplace and technical software such as BIM (Revit), Finite Element Software, MS Office. Work will be deployed in service of analytical modeling, 3-dimensional modeling, and timely completion of deliverables to realize exciting and complex design projects. Site visits to review existing buildings or to observe construction progress will be required at various project phases.
POSITION: Senior Structural Engineer (Job No. 706695) – 3 Positions Available
LOCATION: Boston, MA
Job Duties:
Perform design and analysis functions for various structures to meet load requirements, by computing size, shape, strength and type of structural members.
- Conduct site assessments and evaluations of existing structures, including inspecting unsafe buildings and recommending options for repairs or demolition.
- Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule and project constraints.
- Review designs and drawings prepared by others as part of a quality control process, including reports prepared by specialty subcontractors and fabricators for building structural components and to incorporate into structural building design.
- Design structural projects and structural components of non-structural projects and review contract documents prior to submission.
- Prepare written reports, schedules, estimates of probable costs, responses to RFIs and submittals including but not limited to technical sections of project specifications.
- Design, detail, model (analytically and graphically), and coordinate with design teams for the purpose of preparing documents, reports, studies, design deliverables, or other items related to multiple project types.
- Engage in projects from start to finish including proposal, project staffing, design, documentation, and invoicing.
- Conduct field work and site visits during the construction phase and to assure completed work meets design intent.
- Supervise administrative staff and BIM modelers for preparation of contract documents.
- Serve as role model for less experienced team members and maintain, strengthen, and build client relationships centered on technical and professional excellence.
- Participate in one or more internal working groups and present experience to the office in the form of continuing education sessions, self-direct industry engagement for professional development and career advancement.
Requirements:
Position requires a U.S. Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field. Position also requires up to 10% of domestic travel.
