Kaitlyn Palmer, PE, SE, and Nathan Roy, PE of LeMessurier, along with Kevin Bergeron, AIA, from William Rawn Associates, Architects, Inc., and Michael Prattico, AIA of MRB Group Engineering, Architecture and Surveying, D.P.C., authored an article in April’s edition of Modern Steel Construction magazine.
The article highlights the Rochester Institute of Technology Student Hall for Exploration and Development’s (SHED) innovative design that integrates art facilities such as the flexible event theater, dance and music studios, and spacious active classrooms and makerspaces. Located on the campus’s ‘Quarter Mile’ walkway, the structure serves as a creative hub that connects the academic and residential sides of campus and provides a ‘missing link’ with two bridges that join Wallace Library with Monroe Hall and the Campus Center Student Union.
SHED opened in the fall of 2023. The project is one of 13 academic buildings at the Henrietta campus where LeMessurier has provided structural engineering services.
