Government Service Center

Boston, Massachusetts

As one of the first installations of Boston’s Government Center master plan, Paul Rudolph’s architecture took the ornate stairways and moved them outside the building envelope, creating an intricate façade not typically seen in cast-in-place construction. Of the same vintage as City Hall, the Lindemann Mental Health Center combines with the attached Hurley Building to stand apart with non-rectilinear forms and architectural exposed concrete aggregates.
