Hilles Library
Originally opened in 1966 as Radcliffe College's Library, this notable mid-century modern building now serves as Harvard University's Student Organization Center. In 2025, Harvard engaged LeMessurier to perform a comprehensive envelope assessment of the aging infrastructure.
Condition Assessment: Through visual inspection and diagnostic testing, our team evaluated critical exterior components, including concrete structural elements, roofing systems, plaza waterproofing, fenestration assemblies, and architectural fascias. We documented deterioration patterns, identified water infiltration pathways, and analyzed existing envelope performance.
Enhancement Strategy: Based on our systematic evaluation, we developed targeted renovation solutions, including a high-performance unitized curtain wall system to improve thermal efficiency and structural skylight integration to activate the central courtyard space.
