John Joseph Moakley U.S. Courthouse

Boston, Massachusetts

The main entrance is flanked by repeating arches along each sidewalk, grounding this courthouse in history, tradition, and fundamentals. Facing Boston Harbor is a 350-foot wide, 90-foot high conoid glass wall, recalling the classical arch shape with a sweeping panorama of modernity. An architectural vision that would embody transparency as a reflection of the justice system itself was paramount for this project and was achieved only through innovative design and construction detailing provided by LeMessurier.
